Tachi Uchi no Kurai, Tsumi-ai no Kurai and Mizoguchi-ha Itto Ryu form key components in the style we study. These forms allow us to better understand the dynamics of distance and timing when practicing Iaido and perfecting technique when practising kendo.

Tachi Uchi no Kurai & Tsumi-Ai no Kurai

Both these sets are ten forms practiced by two people most often with wooden swords (bokuto). They offer a more ‘practical application’ to the way Iaido is studied – by that we mean that you will gain a better insight into the way a sword is used against an opponent who is actually in front of you.
